Head of School’s Message

Head of School’s Message

It is a pleasure to reflect on a month filled with learning, achievement, and meaningful experiences across our Cambridge community. I am particularly encouraged by the way our students continue to grow not only academically, but also in confidence, creativity, collaboration, and self-awareness. Our achievements in the Cambridge Checkpoint assessments, along with the many opportunities for multilingual learning, Life Competencies, and future-focused exploration, reflect our commitment to developing well-rounded learners. I look forward to seeing our students continue to embrace challenges, discover their potential, and lead with purpose and confidence

Multilingualism

Understanding Our Linguistic Tapestry

Understanding Our Linguistic Tapestry

To truly honor the linguistic backgrounds of our students, we began by mapping out their unique language profiles from Level 1 to A2. An impressive 70% response rate from our community gave us a clear picture of the diverse voices in our hallways. This invaluable data has allowed us to move away from guesswork and build targeted, evidence-based support that directly serves our multilingual learners.

Fostering Shared Appreciation

Fostering Shared Appreciation

The impact of celebrating these native languages has been remarkable. Our language achievement rate has skyrocketed from 19% to 37%, reflecting a massive leap in student engagement and academic pride. To protect this momentum, multilingual appreciation is now woven into the orientation programs for all incoming staff and students, making language awareness a core value from day one.

National Chocolate Day

National Chocolate Day

To celebrate National Chocolate Day, Grade 3 Cambridge Primary KVP students took part in an engaging chocolate-making experience on campus. Through this hands-on activity, they explored the ingredients and process involved in making chocolates while creating their own sweet treats.

Students poured melted chocolate into moulds and decorated them with colourful sprinkles, showcasing their creativity and attention to detail. The activity encouraged collaboration, communication, and learning through experience, while also strengthening fine motor skills.

The highlight of the session was tasting their handmade chocolates, making the celebration both enjoyable and memorable. The experience offered a fun and meaningful way for students to learn about the art of chocolate making while fostering creativity and teamwork.

International Opportunities

ISP Artists: Exploring Art Through History & Sound

ISP Artists: Exploring Art Through History & Sound

ISP Artists sessions introduced students to the world of art through history, creativity, and experimentation. Session 1 explored art history and renowned artists, helping students discover different artistic styles and influences. In Session 2, students connected music with visual expression by translating sounds and emotions into colours. The activity also provided opportunities to develop brush techniques and build confidence in artistic expression.

Turning Ideas into Action: Exploring the SDGs

Turning Ideas into Action: Exploring the SDGs

As part of the ISP Changemakers – Ideas for Action category, students explored the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an engaging discussion and informative videos. The session concluded with an interactive “SDG Icon Matching – Who Am I?” activity, where students decoded clues and matched SDG icons with their meanings. The experience strengthened their understanding of the SDGs and encouraged them to recognise their role in contributing to a more sustainable and responsible world.

Sustainable Campus Initiative

Sustainable Campus Initiative

The Sustainable Campus initiative is progressing as a collaborative process involving Stage 1 and Stage 2 students. The students have conducted a campus audit to identify existing practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

They have also shared their plans and work during assemblies and participated in a joint meeting to clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations across both stages.

As a next step towards implementation, Stage 1 took the initiative to prepare and submit a formal document/petition to the HOS seeking land approval for the proposed vermicomposting project.

Overall, students are moving from auditing and identifying needs to planning, collaboration, advocacy, and action, taking increasing ownership of the Sustainable Campus initiative.

Grade 1 – HRT activity - Gratitude Card

As part of the ISP Futures Framework, Grade 1 Cambridge Primary KVP students participated in a meaningful HRT activity centred on gratitude and self-reflection.

Students reflected on their learning journey by revisiting classroom memories and exploring the importance of gratitude through an engaging video. They then created personalised gratitude cards, expressing appreciation for the people and experiences that have supported their growth.

An interactive treasure hunt featuring reflection prompts encouraged active participation, while a guided learning reflection helped students recognise their progress and achievements. The session concluded with students confidently sharing their gratitude messages and personal reflections.

The activity nurtured self-awareness, appreciation, and a positive learning mindset while reinforcing the importance of recognising growth through reflection.
